The Author
Anthea Matley was born in Moresby and grew up on a rubber plantation on the Sogeri Plateau, Papua New Guinea, immigrating to Australia in 1968.
Anthea obtained a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing through the Kangan Institute, Bendigo, Victoria. She studied part-time while revegetating a 40 acre property at Faraday.
As part of her course work, Anthea assisted in producing and self-publishing an anthology of student’s writing. In 2014, again with a team, she produced and published Kidnapped by Time, a history of the Faraday area.
Anthea has written short stories and poetry and Planting Memories is her first creative non-fiction book. It took five years of research, writing, and a revisiting of her childhood home in Papua.
She now lives in Elphinstone, central Victoria.
